Oh my, I think I finally found an anime music podcast that's better than Peter and John's Anime Music Podcast. The podcast is called Otaku Kakumei, put out by two lovely hosts - Freya and Miles. From the sound of things, they mostly play diverse types of anime music, with the occasional J-pop tune and at least one Miyazaki song in most episodes. They have a nice chemistry as hosts, the flow from one song to the next is swift and smooth, and every between-song section has random fun music underlayed beneath their voices. And, of course, the most important thing for a music podcast: their taste in music is superb! ^^ I can only say that I would like it a bit better if the two of them could banter a bit longer between songs, because the appeal of podcasts like these, IMHO, is as much about the personality of the host(s) as it is about the music and editing. They seem to talk together more in later episodes, which is good. ^^ Anyway, I definitely recommend the show. I may be giving them a shoutout in the next episode of AU. Site address is honey-vanity.org/otaku/

The best part about there podcast is that they played They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" by Erwin Beekveld . No in all seriousness it looks/sounds like a good podcast. As you said their music selection is quiet varied. And tagboards are always fun. I've subscribe to them Speaking of which does Anime Utahime have a itunes subscription? Edit: Oh and i love their display art for the episodes And In episode the background music while they were talking was an amazing selection (Last Exile <3) Edit 2: ONE PIECE <3<3<3<3 Though the sound quality could have been better

I am enlightened! To keep this on topic i'll mention something else about Otaku Kakumei as well. Sadly i've watched/played every series they've mentioned... I really need to find more hobbies

LMAO! WEll to be honest, I have the same issue, but I find anime and its music highly addictive ^^; Especially with such good hosting and flow between songs D:
Worry not, legions of otaku such as myself are in the same boat as you... xD

I want to have Anime Utahime in the iTunes store, but apparently you need a credit card to submit podcasts... even if you have an AppleID. What the fuck, Apple? I found Otaku Kakumei via the iTunes store, myself. Googling "Otaku Kakumei" brings up their website, and a long list of irrelevant results in a foreign language. And they don't show up at all when Googling the term anime music podcast, with quotations or without. o.O

Why would you need a credit card? >>; As long as it is free, I could get my parents to use theirs if you like :3
Also, the site is very nice, I think ^^

gorillaz4vr has volunteered in the past to do that, and has said recently that he found the confirmation e-mail in his spam inbox. I'm going to wait and see if anything comes of that before trying through another person again. *crosses fingers*

LOL Well alright! ^^ I'm glad others are as generous. :]
Just give me a message if something goes wrong, though! Now to keep on topic...how exactly do you think they host so well? What part of their attitude and behavior towards the show and their listeners helps out the over-all product?
Yes, I'm trying to get educated in the matter to help with my own show ^^;

From what little i've listened to (just episode 1) I'd say they have good chemistry as Eryn said, but its a little oblivious that the girl is the main host and the guy is her sidekick (or that was my take on it). The joke songs where fun. The biggest complaint was the low quality of Bon Voyage (i'm a One Piece Fan Boy so ). Otherwise i have no complaints.

Well I don't know if it would help you, since a two-person host team is different from solo hosting. But one of the things I like about their hosting style is that it combines just the right amount of pre-planned material and off-the-cuff humour. If you're worried about what to say, I'd write up some notes or even a full script beforehand. You can either read completely from the notes/script (makes you sound more sure of yourself, but can come off sounding stiff), or just use it as a guideline while ad-libbing the rest (gives a nice casual, fun tone, but can also leave some awkward pauses and gaps depending on your level of creative juice on any given day). They also have that indescribable thing called "chemistry," that's hard to really put into words but you know it when you hear it. My brother and I have it when we host together, and so do Freya and Miles.

Well, it is relatively hard to truly keep balanced when there is more than one person...^^; Personalities collide, and the more dominant keeps the title of head honcho! xD
But you are right, I wish I trusted one of my friends enough to take this thing seriously, because I will have to be all by my little lonesome. :/

For me personally, I find the notes/script thing works for doing episodes by myself, and having only very sparse notes works better for doing it with guests. The exception is episode 18, which was completely scripted, but my brother suddenly wanted to do the episode with me, so I went ahead with the script as planned while leaving him room to interject wherever possible. I can't claim to know for sure, but from the sound of their voices, Freya and Miles are probably going with some amount of notes and/or script in some places, but the interjections are all over the place as well.

I have written brief notes, and have an idea of what I would say, so it seems kind of natural, but being recorded, the idea just makes me kind of nervous. >>;
