Ok, look, I'm a big fan of video gaming, and people saying video games influences teens to be/come more violent just pisses me off. Here are some things/reasons video games do not influence. - Video games teach how work out problems, hand-eye coordination, team work, diplomacy, standing up for yourself, standing up against a large enemy and so much more.
- Tell me this, does a gun lying on the ground kill someone? OF COURSE NOT!! "But it does kill people!" you may say. Tell me, isn't someone using the gun to shoot the person?
- We all know humans are destructive by nature, if you don't know that, LOOK AROUND YOU!! Wouldn't you agree that by playing video games, we can take out that destructive nature in a non-harmful environment?
(sorry more to come)

ToD, I am on your side of the issue, but I don't think those last two points are the most well-thought out.
The second point doesn't refute opponents in the argument very well at all. A counter-argument could still be that a video game has a direct influence on a person's mind, and a gun just sits there and doesn't really have that kind of active influence. While that is still not a great counter-argument, it is still a counter-argument, and your opponent will be satisfied enough with that if you can't come up with anything better.
The third point contains a blatant example of the fallacy of many questions, aka "the loaded question." What this means is that you asked a question that assumes a truth about "something that has not been proven or accepted by all the people involved." In this case, it is an assumption about the nature of humanity. The nature of humanity has been hotly debated for eons and is still being hotly debated all around the world to this day. Even if you have made up your mind and you have decided beyond a shadow of a doubt that humans are basically destructive, how could you possibly claim that "we all know" or believe the same? You would have to drop the video games argument and prove your point about the nature of humanity before you could continue, and that argument would take WAY longer and be more philosophically complex than the video game one anyway.
Anyway, I have not nearly enough words with which to describe how blatantly ignorant and closed-minded that part of the third point is. Although, I do agree that video games can be good for venting aggressiveness for those who feel a need to do so.

Violent games actually have the reverse effect, i find. They calm me down, as i can harmlessly take out any stress. On GoW, Halo 3 and Mass effect, people can tell how stressed i am by how well i play. And, by the end of it, i'm a happy persona again! yaaay!
